The Quiet Days

JENNIFER GÓMEZ | Co-Founder The Guide Artists

The summer season begins. One of the most anticipated moments on the calendar and, for millions of people around the world, a symbol of rest, sunshine, and disconnecting from the everyday. It’s the time of packed suitcases, overcrowded beaches, airport snapshots, and one phrase repeated to exhaustion: “Finally, vacation.”

But what about restless minds? Those who don’t feel the same excitement at the thought of a synchronized break—a scheduled, uniform disconnection. Those who find in routine—the real one, the one that fills the rest of the year—the richest ground for creating, thinking, and growing. Those who prefer winter to quietly slip away while the world keeps spinning.

Creative minds experience summer with a certain contradiction. We’re surrounded by an atmosphere that invites (or rather forces) us to pause—to silence our inner movement—just when we most want to produce, imagine, and create. While others rest, we dream of September, with its promise of fresh starts, new projects, and new challenges. While many close for vacation, we open windows and look for different paths.

That’s why this July, The Guide Artists features artist Albert Bonet on the cover—one of the most alert, restless, and original minds we’ve had the pleasure of encountering. His cover painting is more than an image—it’s a statement. A vibrant, youthful, and colorful scene filled with irony and protest. A postcard from Barceloneta at the height of summer, where the saturation of tourists becomes a metaphor for a system that pushes us all to do the same thing, at the same time, year after year.

Bonet doesn’t paint vacations. He paints what they do to us. His work is a fresh and incisive critique of the monotony disguised as rest—a kind of pause that leaves those of us who live to create feeling out of place. He reminds us that even amid the heat, the crowds, and the forced break, we can still raise our voice—even if it’s through brushstrokes.

This July, at The Guide Artists, we invite all restless minds not to stop. To keep creating while the world takes its nap. To see in this collective pause a rare opportunity to move forward, grow, and rebel through art.

Because for some, summer isn’t an end. It’s a new beginning.

Let’s begin!
