Nick Alm: Epoch
More than a collection of paintings, Epoch is an inward journey through the artist’s evolving vision.
Born in 1985. Nick Alm spent his student years in Gothenburg, Florence, New York, Stavern and Paris, drawing and painting from life in the classical tradition. He has received several international awards and exhibits regularly in Europe, America and Asia. He now resides in Stockholm.
In a world saturated with fleeting images and superficial impressions, the art of Nick Alm offers a striking and much- needed counterpoint. His paintings reach beyond surface beauty to touch the deepest layers of human emotion and experience. Standing before one of Alm’s works is like standing before a mirror—not one that reflects our outer appearance, but one that reveals the subtle, often unspoken truths that lie within.
Born in Switzerland in 1985, Alm’s artistic path has been marked by transformation and relentless pursuit. Beginning his career as an illustrator, he soon discovered that oil painting offered not just a medium, but a profound necessity—a way to explore the complexities of the human spirit. His journey took him from the Renaissance heart of Florence, where he immersed himself in classical techniques, to the vibrant art scenes of New York, Stavern, and Paris, absorbing influences that would shape his distinct and multidimensional vision.
Alm’s mastery of the human figure is more than technical precision; it is emotional resonance. In his hands, the body becomes a vessel for longing, vulnerability, sensuality, and connection. His canvases capture not only light and form, but the electric charge of human interaction—the glance held a second too long, the solitary figure lost in thought, the quiet drama of everyday life.
What makes Alm’s work so compelling is the delicate balance he strikes between tradition and modernity. While his techniques echo the great romantic and figurative painters of the past, his subjects and treatment are unmistakably contemporary. He draws our attention to the poetry hidden within the mundane, elevating ordinary moments into something sublime. In Alm’s world, a fleeting encounter, a casual gesture, or an intimate moment becomes a stage for universal human truths.
Throughout his career, Alm has earned international acclaim, winning awards and exhibiting in some of the most respected galleries and museums around the world. Yet what truly distinguishes his work is not the accolades, but its impact on those who encounter it. His paintings resonate across audiences—whether seasoned collectors, fellow artists, or first-time viewers—because they speak a silent but universal language of feeling, memory, and shared humanity.
This book presents a selection of Alm’s work at a moment of remarkable artistic maturity. But it is also a testament to his restless curiosity, his willingness to continue questioning, seeking, and exploring. Each painting is both a statement and a question, both a culmination and a beginning.
In inviting us into his world, Nick Alm invites us to slow down, to look more closely, and to engage more deeply—with art, with others, and with ourselves. His work is a reminder that in the stillness of contemplation, we rediscover what it means to be fully human.

“I’d rather be called timeless than relevant,” Alm states—a quiet rebellion against the noise of the now.
His reflections throughout the book reveal a mind more concerned with enduring questions than fleeting cultural moments: What makes a painting truly complete? Where does originality meet quality? How does perception reshape meaning over time?
The design by The Guide Artists beautifully complements Alm’s vision, presenting each piece with clarity and reverence. The layout offers room for contemplation, while the handwritten thoughts introduce a rare vulnerability and insight into the artist’s world.
From classical nudes to captivating portraits, from symbolic still lifes to introspective scenes, Epoch captures an artist who listens more to silence than to applause. Nick Alm paints not for the moment—but for the ages.
