Joaquín Maximiliano Portraying some amount of human essence
Portraying some amount of human essence
For Joaquín Maximiliano Martínez, figurative art is more than a discipline; it is a lens through which to understand the world, an intense and intimate dialogue between reality and imagination. His fascination with the human being, captured through subtle gestures and delicate sensations, anchors his practice in a search for what he considers essential.
Born in Chile in 1995, Joaquín grew up surrounded by creativity, in a family where art, especially drawing and figurative painting, was part of daily life. Moving to Madrid at the age of eight, he found in the Prado Museum a source of lasting influence that shaped both his artistic confidence and his evolving perception of beauty and form.
Initially devoted to drawing, he embraced a path of experimentation without rules, developing an intuitive understanding of volume, texture, and atmosphere. In 2020, he made the conscious decision to dedicate himself entirely to art.
Guided and inspired by his father and mentor, painter Sergio Martínez, he embarked on a journey of self-exploration rooted in intuition, adaptability, and a profound love for subtleties.
For Maximiliano, atmosphere is essential; it unifies every element on the canvas, enveloping figures and objects in the same weight and air. This invisible yet decisive presence allows viewers to connect emotionally with his characters, who often seem to carry unspoken truths.
In addition to his personal exploration, Maximiliano has expanded his knowledge through workshops with internationally recognized artists such as Arantzazu Martínez, Dirk Dzimirsky, and Alejandro Rosemberg. These experiences have added perspective and refinement to a body of work that continues to evolve while remaining deeply personal.
