Interview with Autumn Skye

“THE CREATIVE PROCESS MOVES THROUGH ME, UNFOLDING ON MY CANVAS.”

“THE CREATIVE PROCESS MOVES THROUGH ME, UNFOLDING ON MY CANVAS.”

In our special August issue, we are pleased to explore the creative world of Autumn Skye, a Canadian artist whose work brings together nature, spirituality, imagination, and the human experience.

For Autumn, art has been a lifelong way of exploring and understanding the world. From her earliest drawings to the paintings she creates today, curiosity and a deep appreciation for the natural world have remained at the heart of her artistic journey. Her travels and experiences have further shaped a perspective rooted in wonder, connection, and a sense of reverence for the diversity of life.

These ideas come to life through paintings rich in symbolism and visual depth. Human figures, natural elements, spiritual references, and dreamlike imagery coexist within a distinctive style that blends refined realism with visionary and archetypal elements. Her work encourages viewers to look beyond what is immediately visible and consider the emotions, stories, and deeper meanings beneath the surface.

As a self-taught artist, Autumn Skye places great trust in intuition and the creative process. Rather than seeking to control every detail, she allows curiosity, imagination, and instinct to guide her work. For her, painting is not simply about creating something beautiful; it is a way of opening a space for reflection, emotion, and new possibilities.

Her artistic philosophy also speaks to the transformative power of creativity. In times of uncertainty and change, art can offer perspective, inspiration, and a renewed sense of connection. It can encourage us to pause, reconnect with ourselves, and imagine different ways of seeing the world around us.

Today, Autumn Skye exhibits and teaches internationally while continuing to create along the coast of British Columbia, Canada, surrounded by the temperate rainforests that have become an important source of inspiration for her work.

Ultimately, her art reminds us that creativity does not always need to provide answers. Sometimes, its greatest power lies in inviting us to wonder, to feel, and to see both the world and ourselves from a new perspective.

Her paintings invite viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of all existence and our relationship with ourselves, one another, and the natural world.
