Domenico Sepe

Domenico Sepe (Naples, 1977) is one of Italy’s leading contemporary sculptors, internationally recognized for a body of work that combines technical excellence, profound spirituality, and a strong commitment to historical memory and social issues. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples with a degree in Sculpture, he has built an international career, creating more than one hundred public monuments and sculptures installed throughout Italy, as well as in Spain, Brazil, and Argentina.

Among his most celebrated works are The Martyred Christ, displayed in the Vatican Apostolic Palace; Memory and Mercy, dedicated to Pope Francis and presented to Pope Leo XIV during the Jubilee; The Revealed Christ in Naples; D10S, a tribute to Diego Armando Maradona; Brother Biagio, honoring the missionary Biagio Conte; and the Winged Victory of Sanremo. Through these works, Sepe explores universal themes of faith, compassion, memory, identity, and resilience, transforming sculpture into a powerful medium for collective reflection.

In addition to his work as a sculptor, Sepe is also an accomplished writer, painter, and educator. He is the author of the artist’s book Homage to Canova: The Master Through the Eyes of Domenico Sepe, a tribute to the great Neoclassical sculptor that reflects both his artistic vision and literary sensitivity. While bronze and the lost-wax casting process remain central to his practice, he also works with marble, wood, silver, aluminum, resin, and other materials, carefully adapting each work to its architectural, commemorative, or spiritual setting.

Sepe’s sculptures have been exhibited at prestigious venues including St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City, Castel dell’Ovo, Maschio Angioino, the Filangieri Museum, and the archaeological parks of Pompeii and Paestum. Through a distinctive artistic language that bridges tradition and innovation, he has established himself as one of the most influential voices in contemporary Italian sculpture.
