A Decade of Art, Culture, and Creativity

Reaching the 100th issue of an independent magazine is far more than a milestone. It is the result of an idea that has endured the passage of time, change, uncertainty, and the many challenges that inevitably accompany any project built on conviction.

When The Guide Artists began, there was never a master plan to reach this point. The original idea was simple: to create a small platform where I could bring together and showcase some of the artists I admired most. Naturally, that project evolved into a digital magazine in 2016. Shortly afterward came the printed edition, bringing with it all the challenges that entailed: finding a printer, taking financial risks, and convincing others that an independent publication devoted entirely to art deserved a place in the world.

Looking back, I now realize that was only the beginning.

Over the past ten years, I have had the privilege of publishing hundreds of artists from around the world, producing dozens of books, organizing exhibitions, and building an international community united by a shared passion for art. Every issue has reflected a different moment in time, and every publication has become part of a continuous process of learning and growth.

This issue, however, also arrives at a particularly meaningful moment in my personal life.

Today, I write these words from a very different place than the young man who once worked from a bedroom in his parents’ home. I now have a home of my own, I share my life with the most extraordinary woman I could ever have hoped to meet, and before long, I will have the privilege of becoming a father. As the years pass, life teaches us that our greatest achievements are rarely professional; they are usually found much closer to home.

For that reason, I want to dedicate this issue, first and foremost, to my wife.

For years, she has shared this journey with me with extraordinary generosity. She has stood beside me during moments of excitement, but also during the times when moving forward seemed most difficult. Her quiet, unwavering support has been absolutely essential to the continued existence of The Guide Artists.

I would also like to dedicate a few words to the person who started it all: myself.

Not as an act of vanity, but as an acknowledgment of a decade of unwavering dedication. I have been fortunate enough to enjoy every issue, every article, every book, and every exhibition. I have made mistakes, learned from them, and continued moving forward with the firm belief that creating something meaningful is always worthwhile.

Like any long-term endeavor, this project has also faced misunderstanding, competition, and criticism. These are inevitable realities when you build something from the ground up and sustain it over many years. Yet time has a way of putting everything into perspective. Today, I choose to look ahead and devote my energy only to what truly matters: continuing to publish exceptional artists, creating books, and enjoying the extraordinary privilege of working in the presence of beauty.

Because The Guide Artists has never aspired to be anything else.

It was never created to compete with anyone or to fuel division. It was founded to discover artists, document their work, and provide a space where art remains the true protagonist. That has been our philosophy since the very first day, and it will continue to guide us for as long as this publication exists.

Issue 100 is not the finish line.

It is the confirmation that there are still many more pages waiting to be written.

A new chapter begins—one defined by new projects, new responsibilities, and a renewed sense of purpose. Perhaps I have more experience today than when I first began, but I still feel exactly the same excitement every time I open a freshly printed magazine or hold a newly published book in my hands.

In just a few months, my son will enter this world. I hope that one day he will understand that his father devoted much of his life to preserving something as simple, and yet as essential, as art. If there is any legacy I hope to leave behind, it is not merely a collection of publications, but the proof that passion, sustained with perseverance, can become a way of life.

To every artist, reader, collector, contributor, and friend who has been part of this journey over the past ten years, thank you.

Issue 100 belongs to you as much as it belongs to us.

And, as with every great story, the most exciting part is not how far we have come.

It is everything that still lies ahead.

Una década de arte, cultura y creación

Alcanzar el número 100 de una revista independiente es mucho más que una cifra. Es la consecuencia de una idea que ha resistido el paso del tiempo, los cambios, las dudas y los desafíos que inevitablemente acompañan a cualquier proyecto construido desde la convicción.

Cuando The Guide Artists comenzó, nunca existió un plan para llegar hasta aquí. La idea inicial era sencilla: crear una pequeña plataforma donde reunir y dar visibilidad a algunos de los artistas que más admiraba. Sin embargo, aquel proyecto fue creciendo de forma natural hasta convertirse, en 2016, en una revista digital. Poco después llegó la edición impresa, con todo lo que ello suponía: encontrar una imprenta, asumir riesgos económicos y convencer a otras personas de que una publicación independiente dedicada exclusivamente al arte tenía sentido.

Mirando atrás, comprendo que aquello fue solo el principio.

Durante estos diez años he tenido el privilegio de publicar a cientos de artistas de todo el mundo, editar decenas de libros, organizar exposiciones y construir una comunidad internacional unida por una misma pasión: el arte. Cada número ha sido el reflejo de un momento distinto y cada publicación ha representado un aprendizaje.

Pero este número también coincide con un momento especialmente importante en mi vida personal.

Hoy escribo estas líneas desde un lugar muy diferente al de aquel joven que trabajaba en la habitación de la casa de sus padres. Tengo un hogar, comparto mi vida con la mujer más extraordinaria que podría haber encontrado y, dentro de muy poco, tendré el privilegio de convertirme en padre. La vida, con el paso de los años, también enseña que los verdaderos éxitos rara vez son profesionales; suelen encontrarse mucho más cerca.

Por eso quiero dedicar este número, en primer lugar, a mi mujer.

Porque desde hace años comparte conmigo este camino con una generosidad infinita. Porque ha estado presente en los momentos de entusiasmo, pero también en aquellos en los que continuar parecía más difícil. Su apoyo ha sido silencioso, constante y absolutamente esencial para que The Guide Artists siga existiendo.

También quiero permitirme dedicar unas palabras a quien comenzó todo esto: a mí mismo.

No como un ejercicio de vanidad, sino de reconocimiento hacia una década de trabajo ininterrumpido. He tenido la fortuna de disfrutar cada revista, cada artículo, cada libro y cada exposición. He cometido errores, he aprendido de ellos y he seguido adelante convencido de que crear merece siempre la pena.

Como cualquier trayectoria de largo recorrido, este proyecto también ha conocido la incomprensión, la competencia y las críticas. Son circunstancias inevitables cuando se construye algo desde cero y se mantiene durante tantos años. Sin embargo, el tiempo termina poniendo cada cosa en su lugar. Hoy prefiero mirar hacia adelante y dedicar mi energía únicamente a aquello que realmente importa: seguir publicando grandes artistas, seguir editando libros y continuar disfrutando del extraordinario privilegio de trabajar rodeado de belleza.

Porque The Guide Artists nunca ha pretendido ser otra cosa.

No nació para competir con nadie ni para alimentar enfrentamientos. Nació para descubrir artistas, documentar su trabajo y ofrecer un espacio donde el arte sea siempre el verdadero protagonista. Esa ha sido nuestra filosofía desde el primer día y seguirá siéndolo mientras exista esta publicación.

El número 100 no representa una meta.

Representa la confirmación de que todavía quedan muchas páginas por escribir.

Comienza una nueva etapa. Una etapa marcada por nuevos proyectos, nuevas responsabilidades y también por una ilusión renovada. Quizá hoy tenga más experiencia que cuando empecé, pero sigo sintiendo exactamente la misma emoción al abrir una revista recién salida de imprenta o al sostener entre las manos un libro terminado.

Dentro de unos meses, cuando mi hijo llegue al mundo, espero que algún día pueda comprender que su padre dedicó buena parte de su vida a preservar algo tan sencillo y, al mismo tiempo, tan necesario como el arte. Si algún legado deseo dejar, no será únicamente una colección de publicaciones, sino la demostración de que la pasión, cuando se sostiene con perseverancia, puede convertirse en una forma de vida.

A todos los artistas, lectores, coleccionistas, colaboradores y amigos que han acompañado este camino durante estos diez años, gracias.

Este número 100 es también vuestro.

Y, como ocurre con toda buena historia, lo más apasionante no es haber llegado hasta aquí.

Es todo lo que aún está por venir.
